Welcome to the Family Medicine Residency Program at Kingman Regional Medical Center! We thank you for your interest in our program and are excited about what we can share with you. Our program emphasizes a curriculum to ensure our graduates are well-trained for the challenges in healthcare today. Faculty and residents work together to meet our patients鈥 physical, psychological, and preventative needs in care. Working together, the faculty and residents continually reevaluate our program and curriculum to adapt to the ever-increasing complexity and sophistication of health care. Our effort is directed toward combining current trends in family medicine training with a strong background in clinical skills while attempting to tailor the training to the needs and interests of each resident.

The program has an Osteopathic Recognition status of Continued Recognition.

Mission

The program's mission is to provide our trainees with experience designed to develop a knowledge base of current medicine. The program strives to train learners from diverse backgrounds and develop them into independent and competent Family Physicians who are highly skilled in providing comprehensive, patient-centered care. These graduates will be well equipped with the proficiency to be healthcare advocates for their patients and families and be community leaders.

Aims

  1. Resident trainees will complete 36 months of a progressive family medicine curriculum guided by the goals of this program to ensure resident trainees master the core competencies of the ACGME and AOA.
  2. The Family Medicine Residency will continue to use a curriculum that mirrors the required Family Practice Core Curriculum.
  3. Resident trainees will receive comprehensive cognitive and procedural clinical education in inpatient and outpatient settings, enabling them to become competent, proficient, and professional physicians.
  4. Didactic sessions will be held five hours weekly on Thursdays. Each month, lecture topics will be determined systematically, with rotations such as integrating adult care, pediatric, radiologic, dermatologic, and Osteopathic Principles and Practices (OPP), among others.
  5. After completing three years of Family Medicine residency training, residents will be eligible to sit for the certifying examination conducted by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) and /or the American Board of Family Medicine Accreditation (ABFM).
